Out of the DV Window
I suspect no one will be surprised that we have been obliged to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, which came into force on 25 May 2018. The consent of existing members of the Association to our holding minimal personal data for membership purposes is implicit in the registration process at the time of joining the Association. New members are required to give formal consent when applying for membership. However, if any member chooses to withdraw consent, they may do so at any time by instructing the Secretary accordingly. Our website, as it is configured at the moment, poses more of a confidentiality problem because it is not password-protected and therefore open to all. Newsletters are reproduced on our website but devoid of any personal data other than the occasional name. From time to time, photographs of individual members will appear in newsletters but the images on the website will not be identified by name. If members would prefer their images not to be reproduced, either in printed newsletters, or on the web version, please contact the editor.
