Attention All Canberra People
Ken Delve is an ex-Canberra navigator in the process of updating his 1992 book on the Canberra. The plan is to have it in print for the aircraft’s 70th anniversary next year.
Ken is trying to reach as many ex-Canberra folks as possible, in search of more stories and squadron pictures. If any members have Canberra experience, or know anyone who has, Ken would be delighted to hear from you at email@example.com
From Dr Jonathan Shipley
I hope you do not mind me contacting you, but I was wondering if you might be able to help me. I have been trying to research Operation Musketeer and I was wondering if you had details of any squadron members who were serving during September to December (and specifically late October and early November) 1956 when the squadron flew a number of operations.
I understand that there might be issues with handing out personal information, but I was wondering if you could perhaps put something relating to my request in the association news letter, or pass my details on to any members who might be able to help.
Once again, I hope you don't mind me contacting you out of the blue.
Ed. This was doing the rounds recently. Being of a certain age, I have a certain empathy with its message.
For those of my generation and younger who do not, and cannot, comprehend why Facebook exists, I am trying to make friends outside of Facebook while applying the same principles.
Therefore, every day I walk down the street and tell passers-by what I have eaten, how I feel at the moment, what I have done the night before, what I will do later and with whom. I give them pictures of my family, my dog, of me playing golf, gardening, taking things apart in the garage, watering the artificial lawn, standing in front of landmarks, driving around town, having lunch, and doing what anybody and everybody does every day.
I also listen to their conversations, give them the 'thumbs up' and tell them I like them. And it works just like Facebook.
I already have four people following me: two police officers, a private investigator and a psychiatrist.
Could I remind all members that annual subscriptions are due on 1st November. Income from subscriptions is the lifeblood of the Association and timely payment will be much appreciated by the Secretary. Please remember to cough up what remains a very modest sum before the end of October.
