De Danske Forsvarsbrödre (the Danish Defence Brotherhood) held their annual ceremony of remembrance at the Lyngs Odde memorial site, near the Danish town of Fredericia, on a bitterly cold and windy day in early March 2020. The memorial stone, inscribed with the names of the crew of Lancaster ED305 of 44 Squadron, was erected in 2013 at a site on the coast close to where the Lancaster was shot down by a German night fighter on 10th March 1943.

The ceremony was attended by about 40 guests and was covered by Danish TV. My thanks to Peer Petersen for sending this photograph of this year’s ceremony. I should also add that congratulations are in order, as Peer was recently made an Honoured Member of the Danish Defence Brotherhood.
