Remembering the Crew of Hampden X3023

David Russel kindly sent an account of the annual commemoration service to remember the crew of Hampden X3023 who lost their lives when it crashed at Templewood, Northrepps, on 29 November 1940. The service was conducted by Air Commodore Jack Broughton, RAFA, and Lorna Fish, the Chair of Northrepps Royal British Legion. Joanna Green, the granddaughter of the pilot Sergeant Jack Ottaway, flew in from her home in Dubai to attend the service and to lay a wreath. Wreaths were also laid on behalf of the families of the other aircrew by David Russell. Royal British Legion Crosses were laid by Nigel Pearce.
