Book Review
From Vulcan to Spitfire and Back
Most of you reading this will know Bill Perrins – or at least think you do! Bill served on 44 (Rhodesia) Squadron for 3 years in the early 1980s. By sheer determination and will- power he translated onto fast jets via instructing in various roles. In parallel with his service career, which saw him on Tornado F3s, Bill became an accomplished display pilot on a wide selection of modern and vintage aircraft including the Spitfire and Mustang and he continued his display flying while building an exceptionally successful career on Virgin Atlantic. Latterly, he was a display pilot on XH 558. Bill has long been known for his eccentric sense of humour and ability to find his way into a scrape with high paid help where the rest of us would have walked away. Do not be fooled. Beneath the jester is an extremely talented and professional pilot who has taken numerous challenges head on and approached every flying task in a serious and careful manner. You might think you know Bill – go and buy this book: it will not only have you chuckling at every turn, you will realise what a remarkable man he is.
